SAME-DAY DENTURE RELINES

The longer you wear your denture, the more your gums will change. Dentures may begin to fit less comfortably as your bone and gum ridges recede or shrink over time. The result is often a loose-fitting denture. Denture relining is an affordable and simple procedure that re-shapes the underside of your dentures to ensure stability and comfort.  In order to restore the retentive qualities of the denture, and to prevent it from irritating your gums, you should have the denture professionally relined at least once every two years.

At Denture & Dental Services, we understand that your

smile matters, and so does your time. We provide same-day denture relines thanks to our on-site denture lab so you don’t have to be without your denture for long. If the denture is taken in the morning, the repair will be ready in the afternoon. Our practice is .4 miles away from a public beach access with free parking. Here, patients can have their dental appointment and their toes in the sand or the surf within minutes of leaving our office. please click here to learn about our Destination Dentistry program.

There are three types of denture relines. Their costs vary depending on the material used.

Hard Reline

A hard reline should be done on all full dentures every one to two years. In order to reline the denture, our highly-trained technicians remove some of the acrylics from the underside of the denture and then fills the denture with a soft material (think of a soft putty) to take an impression. The dentures are then placed back in the mouth and after the soft material hardens to a rubbery consistency, the denture is removed and now contains an accurate impression of the current shape of the gums. The impression material is then replaced with hard acrylic that conforms to the contours of the mouth and provides maximum contact with the tissues.

Temporary Reline

Patient's gums may become red, swollen, and mishappen if their dentures have not been professionally serviced in quite some time. We use temporary reline material to allow the inflammation to subside. This reline makes the denture fit tightly, and is usually soft and pliable. After a few weeks, the gums return to a more normal state. The temporary reline is only meant to be worn for a few weeks until the gums return to a more normal state. Afterward, the patient is ready for either a new denture or a hard reline on their existing denture.
